In the seemingly perfect Koudo Ikusei Senior High School, students are granted unparalleled freedom, earning the institution a prestigious reputation in Japan. Yet, beneath this façade lies a stark reality: the four-tiered class system, where only the elite A-class students receive preferential treatment. Kiyotaka Ayanokouji, a student of the lowest-ranked Class D, finds himself amidst a group of misfits, including Suzune Horikita, a fiercely determined individual convinced she was mistakenly placed in Class D, and Kikyou Kushida, the charismatic class idol with a hidden agenda.

As the students navigate their academic journey, they discover that while class membership is permanent, class rankings are not.
