Each Gem is assigned a purpose to counter the threat of the Lunarians, who prey on their kind, shattering their bodies to adorn their own. Among these fragile warriors is Phosphophyllite, a tender Gem with a burning desire to aid their comrades in the ongoing conflict.

However, Phos is relegated to compiling an encyclopedia due to their delicate constitution, a fate that sparks their resentment. It isn't until they encounter Cinnabar, a brilliant Gem forced to patrol a remote island at night due to the corrosive properties of their own body, that Phos finds inspiration. Moved by Cinnabar's despair, Phos sets out to find a role that would allow both rejected Gems to flourish. As they navigate this treacherous landscape, Phos' quest for purpose becomes a beacon of hope for their fellow Gems.
