In a world where advanced androids called Giftias are indistinguishable from humans, 18-year-old Tsukasa Mizugaki finds himself employed at Sion Artificial Intelligence Corporation, responsible for creating and managing these extraordinary beings. However, Giftias have a unique characteristic - their lifespan is limited to 81,920 hours, roughly nine years and four months. As a member of Terminal Service One, Tsukasa's job is to collect Giftias nearing expiration, a task that becomes increasingly poignant when paired with his new partner, Isla.

Isla, a petite and reserved Giftia, is an experienced veteran in Giftia retrievals, despite her gentle demeanor. As Tsukasa works alongside her, he begins to develop strong feelings for Isla, but he knows that their time together is limited. The impending expiration of Isla's lifespan forces Tsukasa to confront the impermanence of human connections and the fragility of life.
